Panelist, Segment on Hydrological Data Management
Cristina Wahrmann Vargas works at the Hydrology Department of Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE), a Costa Rican institution. ICE provides hydrological services such as field measurements, hydrology studies and models, forecasting, water quality test, grain size and concentration measurements. ICE's hydroelectrical projects became one of the main sources of electricity in Costa Rica, and the hydrometeorological network built and operated by the Department ended up being the largest in the country. Ms Wahrmann Vargas is a civil engineer and obtained her license degree from the Universidad de Costa Rica, and was then awarded a scholarship to the Fundación Carolina and obtained a Máster en Hidrología y Gestión del Recurso Hídrico from Universidad de Alcalá in Spain. Ms Wahrmann Vargas has worked at ICE’s Hydrology Department since 2010 and her experience in hydrological data management is mainly focused on sediment information, time series analysis, and helping with the planning of field data collection.
