Arlene Williams is the Senior Director, Water Policy and Monitoring in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation in Jamaica. Ms Williams has worked in the Public Sector for over 23 years at varying policy levels and holds a Master of Arts degree in Development Studies, majoring in Public Policy and Administration from the Institute of Social Studies, the Hague, the Netherlands. One of the major responsibilities of her job is the oversight of the Water Sector Policy which was approved by Cabinet last month. The Policy has the overall objective of 100 per cent access to potable water by 2030. The position monitors the entities in charge of service delivery in the water sector – the National Water Commission, Rural Water Supply Ltd and the Water Resources Authority – as well as advises the Minister and Executives on water related matters.
