High Level Segment Chairperson
David Grimes is serving his second term as the President of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and has been Canada's Permanent Representative with the WMO since 2006. As the Assistant Deputy Minister and head of Environment and Climate Change Canada's Meteorological Service, Mr Grimes served as one of Canada’s negotiators for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and participated in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). As Canada’s Principal Representative to the Group on Earth Observations, he led the coordination of two key Ministerial Summits, the first in the Republic of South Africa (2007), and the second in China (2010).
