Hossain Saiful has over 28 years of working experience with Flood Disaster Management in Bangladesh. He joined the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center (FFWC) of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) in 1989 and has completed his PgD in mathematical modeling and Masters in Disaster Management. During his assignment with FFWC, Mr Saiful was the focal point for flood forecasting & early warning, dissemination, awareness, and flood disaster risk management. He carried out research work as an expert on “Local Emergency Operation Plan with Flood Hazard Map” with the International Center for Water Hazard and Risk Management (ICHARM), Public Works Research Institute (PWRI), Japan. He has been serving as an expert and resource person on community-based disaster management, flood forecasting, dissemination, awareness raising and water related disaster management in Bangladesh for ADPC, DANIDA, CFAN, RIMES and many others. Presently he is the Superintending Engineer, Processing and Flood forecasting Circle, BWDB and responsible for: update disseminates national hydrological data base, flood forecasting and warning services in Bangladesh.
