Dr Aref Gharib is Head of Regional Cooperation Central Department, Nile Water Sector, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, Egypt. His education includes Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Master and Ph.D. degrees in water resources management. He has significant experience with most proposed projects in the upper Nile region.  Dr Gharib worked as a Water Resources & Irrigation Engineer with 27 years of experience in integrated water resources planning and management, as well as in the implementation and supervision of surface water resources management policies, including surface, flood control and rainwater harvesting. Working in Nile Water Sector, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, he has been supervising the hydrological data group that monitors and analyzes the data of the available Stations on River Nile, including levels, discharges and rainfall. Dr Gharib also worked in several Nile countries (Sudan and Uganda) as a Hydrologist and Water Resources Engineer.
