The Global Framework for Water Scarcity in Agriculture (WASAG) is a Partnership hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which brings together government institutions, intergovernmental agencies, research organizations, advocacy groups and other stakeholders. These partners are committed to collaborate in finding solutions to the challenges posed by water scarcity in agriculture in the face of climate change and an increasing water population.

Target Segment of the Conference: Hydrological Services - Product Delivery
Relationship to other Conference Segments:
Hydrological services are a critical component of addressing water scarcity in agriculture and several components of the WASAG work plan will depend on or provide products that enhance hydrological services aimed at better managing water resources in agriculture to cope with droughts, and to manage water more efficiently. This includes forecasting of droughts, tools to facilitate agriculture water management in a quest to maximise the ensuing socio economic and hydrological benefits, from the perspectives of water quantity and quality.

Connection to the development and delivery of a hydrological service for prosperity:
Managing water scarcity in agriculture ensures that limited water resources are used efficiently for food and nutrition security, providing effectively a hydrological service for prosperity’ in a sustainable and economic way. As an illustration, the WASAG working groups on Drought Preparedness, Water and Migration and Water and Nutrition all include different aspects of direct or indirect hydrological services.
