Moderator, Segment on Hydrological Products
A. Sezin Tokar is the Senior Hydrometeorological Hazard Advisor at USAID’s Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), the lead federal office responsible for coordinating the U.S. government’s response to international disasters. She provides technical expertise and guidance on how to prepare and respond to climate, weather, and water-related disasters. She also oversees OFDA’s hydrometeorological early warning and capacity building programs. In addition, Dr. Tokar is OFDA’s technical lead on disaster risk reduction and served in various global platforms and high-level working groups. She currently serves on the White House National Science and Technology Council’s Subcommittee on Disaster Reduction, the Consultative Group of the World Bank’s Global Facility for Disaster Response and Recovery, and the WMO’s Commission on Climatology. Prior to joining OFDA, Dr. Tokar was a hydrological advisor to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Weather Service.
